Despite rising prices in the travel industry, camping remains one of the most affordable ways to go on holiday in Europe. This is according to the latest price analysis by PiNCAMP, the camping platform backed by organisations including ADAC, ANWB and TCS.
At a time when many holidays are becoming more expensive, camping therefore remains an attractive choice for families and travellers who are mindful of their budget.
Affordable enjoyment, even in high season
The analysis shows that, on average, a family pays around €49 per night for a camping stay in Europe during the high season. Although this is a slight increase compared to last year, this price level is still considerably lower than for many other types of holiday. In countries such as Norway, Sweden and Germany, the average cost of an overnight stay is relatively low. With prices of around €38 in Norway, €40 in Sweden and €41 in Germany, these destinations will be among the most affordable camping destinations in Europe in 2026.
For this amount, you usually get a pitch, accommodation for two adults and one child, and access to basic facilities. This makes camping an accessible way for many families to get away from it all without costs spiralling out of control.
